PYONGYANG, April 27 (Xinhua) — Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), met separately with Russia’s State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and Defense Minister Andrei Belousov on Sunday, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Monday.

Kim noted the two countries had fought shoulder to shoulder and won a victory in operations in Russia’s Kursk region, calling it “a historic event proving the mightiness and firmness of the DPRK-Russia alliance,” said the report.

“The DPRK government will as ever fully support the policy of the Russian Federation to defend the national sovereignty, territorial integrity and security interests,” Kim was quoted as saying.

During the talks, the DPRK and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to developing bilateral relations comprehensively in line with the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty, the report added.

The two sides also discussed a series of issues aimed at further consolidating and developing political and military cooperation and assistance between the two countries, it said. ■
