BISHKEK, April 23 (Xinhua) — An event dedicated to Chinese wushu, titled “Charm of Chinese Kung Fu,” was held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan on Thursday, drawing about 1,000 participants from both countries.

Speaking at the event, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan Li Hua said that wushu is rightfully considered a vibrant hallmark of traditional Chinese culture. “It embodies the national spirit of the Chinese people — the pursuit of constant self-improvement and a commitment to high moral ideals,” he noted.

The Chinese diplomat promised that the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan is ready to work with the Kyrgyz side to consistently deepen Chinese-Kyrgyz cooperation in education and culture, promoting mutual understanding and affinity between the peoples of the two countries.

Mirlan Dyldaev, Rector of Bishkek State University (BSU), stated that such events serve as an important bridge of friendship between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and China, promoting mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and academic collaboration.

Wang Yong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Capital University of Physical Education and Sports of China, expressed hope that the event will open a window for the people of Kyrgyzstan to understand China, embrace the Chinese language, and cultivate a love for traditional Chinese culture. It will also provide an opportunity for more students to broaden their horizons and make friends through communication and mutual learning.

Integrating dance and wushu, faculty members and students from the ensemble of Capital University of Physical Education and Sports of China staged performances that showcased elements such as the origins of martial arts, traditional fencing, tai chi techniques, and ancient battlefield formations, showcasing the philosophical depth and aesthetic appeal of Chinese wushu. Spectators also had the opportunity to interact with Chinese martial arts masters and learn wushu movements.

The event was jointly organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of China’s Ministry of Education, the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports of China, and the Confucius Institute at BSU. ■
